The types of cameras used in the Breast Thermography field vary considerably. It is important to know what your technician is using to analyze your health and wellness. Typically (but not always) the higher the resolution the better the camera is (approx. 640×480). It is also important to make sure the system used is FDA Cleared. Medical Thermal Cameras produce high-resolution, ultra-sensitive infrared images that can be translated in to heat measurements that are plotted on a screen. The camera itself needs to be calibrated annually. Be sure to ask if the technician or doctor has an updated calibration certificate.
Please note that many changes in technology have occurred in the past 10 years. Always ask the age of the Thermologist’ s camera. The Professional Academy of Clinical Thermology (PACT) requires all owner to calibrate annually. PACT is the non-profit organization that oversees the standards used by Breast Thermography International.
